A.H. Leonard Dead
Prominent Resident of Maple buried Tuesday
________ in Ida County for 38(?) years took part in Public Affairs
Battle Creek is morning for one of her prominent citizens Alfred H. Leonard who was taken by death Sunday morning at nine o'clock, cancer of the stomach being the cause.  The funeral which took place Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 was held at the Presbyterian church, Rev. ___ Blue officiating and the Masonic Lodge in _____.  Interment was made at Mt. Hope cemetery.  Mr. Leonard was born April 30, 1859 at Columbia, Indiana and was therefore in his 57TH year,  He was married in 1881 at Fowler, Indiana to Miss Elizabeth Harper, she survives him together with four daughters, a son having died in childhood.  The daughters are: Mrs. Fred Wolcot, Battle Creek, Mrs. Herman Boller, Ashland, Neb., Mrs. Daniel Stork, Cedar Rapids, and Mrs E. H. Rickman, Battle Creek.  There are seven grandchildren.  Mr. Leonard is also survived by his father and four brothers who reside in Indiana, the brother John came to attend the funeral.  Mr. Leonard and his wife came to Ida County in 1883 and soon settled in Maple township, which has since been their home.  Mr Leonard farmed until 10 years ago when he moved to the edge of Battle Creek.  Since that ___ he has taken a wide interest in public affairs and at the time of his death was a member of _______  ________ ____ ______ __________ council.  ____  ___ he has been a member of Persey _____ lodge No. 446 at Battle Creek.  The death of Mr. Leonard is a great loss to the whole community as he was a progressive in_______ and highly honorable ____with his influence thrown with the best forces.  He was a loving and companionable husband and father, likewise a man universally(?) popular among his neighbors.
FYI Mrs E. H. Rickman is Nola Leonard and Elmer Rickman.  Father Oliver P. Leonard and brothers Byron, John, Charley and Ernest.
