Dice Family Outline
Not a lot of information has been found for Gottlieb Dice but he is the farthest we've been able to get back to for the Dice family. Gottlieb born abt. 1815 in Germany and married Christina (Shide) Cline abt. 1845 in Hamilton County, Ohio. Christina at the time was the widow of Peter Cline and with Peter she had two boys: Conrad and Peter. Christina was born abt. 1825 in Baden, Germany and died 27 May 1898 in Franklin County, Indiana. Christina came to America at the age of 12 and settled in Cincinati, Oh with her parents. The trip across the ocean took 120 days. Gottlieb and Christina's children are:
William b. 1845 Ohio, served in the civil war Co. K 123rd Infantry Indiana Volunteers. He suffered cruelly from exposure.
Francis b. 1847 Ohio married Margaret White and then Mary Ellen Weir.
Augustus born abt 1849 in Ohio and died possibly in 1933.
Margaret born 1858 I believe she was born in Franklin County, Indiana because land records show Gottlieb purchased a 80 acre farm in 1857. She married Frank Bildner 8 Jan. 1876 Franklin Co., Ind.
Lydia born 16 Apr. 1858. As far as we know there are no twins, would like to find correct birth dates for Margaret and Lydia.

FRANCIS DICE married 1st Margaret White. Their children are:
Francis Edward born 1874 married Nora Mae Timberman and he died Jun of 1944. He is buried with Nora in the Dale cemetery in Connersville, Ind.
Annie married Ezra Wildridge 11 Feb. 1902.
Maggie b. abt. 1880 married John Jinks 18 Jun. 1902 and she died in 1918 during a flu epidemic.
Lizzie born Jan. 1883 married Rolla Jinks 13 Apr. 1902
Margaret White died sometime between 1883 and 1886. She died while sifting lime from their house. The house was either being built or remodeled. Francis Dice then married Mary Ellen Weir 13 Apr. 1886 Franklin Co., Ind and their children are:
William born 22 Aug. 1889 married Minnie Sherwood and they are laid to rest in Cronwell Cemetery (old Laurel) in the back part.

CHARLES LAVERNE married Lillie Peak. Lillie was born 16 Oct. 1896 in Addyston, Oh. She is the daughter of John Samuel Peak and Elizabeth Fulton. Charles and Lillie were married 12 Jun. 1915 in Rush Co., Ind. Charles died 23 Feb. 1971 Rush Co., and Lillie died 28 Mar. 1981. They are laid to rest in Laurel North Cemetery. Charles went by the name "Vernie". Their children are:
Carl Edward b. 29 Mar 1916 married Marjorie P. Gilpin 10 Sep. 1939. He died 25 Jan 1983 Rushville, Ind
Kenneth Laverne b. 26 Mar. 1918 married Violet Webb 25 Apr. 1941. He died 20 Oct. 2006 Greenfield, Ind and she died Nov. 1987 in Hancock Co., Ind
Lowell Merl b. 15 Dec. 1919 married Mary L Webb 1 Nov. 1942. They are both deceased
Raymond Hubert b. 10 Dec. 1921 married Rowena Hawkins 19 Mar. 1943. He died 13 May 2004 and she died 10 May 2002 ( she was b. 13 Mar. 1924)
Howard Eugene b. 10 Jan. 1926 married Elizabeth F. Buchanan 16 Dec. 1944. He died 31 Jan. 2007 in Rush Co., Ind. They are both laid to rest in East Hill cemetery in Rushville,, Ind
Donald Willard b. 3 Apr. 1928 married Jean. He died 28 May 1994 of complications from heart surgery in Indianapolis, Ind. He is laid to rest in Arlington's East Hill cemetery.
Pearl Louise b. 15 Mar. 1936 and died 24 Feb. 2006. She is laid to rest next to her mom and dad in North Laurel cemetery.
NOTES for Henry A. Dice-according to Christina's will Henry got the farm after her death. It does not mention any of the other children. Henry married Emma Corn 23 Feb. 1911. Henry sold the farm in 1916 to Carl and Clara Herman and moved the family to Connersville. Fact supported by Franklin Co., In land records and wills. Have copy of will.
DONALD W DICE is my maternal grandfather and he was preceeded in death by two of his children: Donald 10 Nov. 1949-14 Nov. 1949 and Linda Kay 10 Oct. 1956-14 Oct. 1956. The babies are laid to rest in the Carthage cemetery next to their mother's twin sister Joyce who died at 7 months.
