Mrs. Albert Vaughn Dies at 62; Services Saturday
Mrs. Merl Leonard Vaughn 62 wife of Albert Vaughn, former Columbia township trustee died at 4:30pm Wednesday at Fayette Memorial Hospital where she had been taken a few hours before. She had been ill the past three weeks at her home north of Columbia. A son Ralph was killed in a motorcycle accident several weeks ago. Born in Benton County, Ind, Mrs. Vaughn has lived in Fayette County for 24 years. She was a member of the Columbia Home Economics Club. Three of her children Claribell, Donald and Ralph preceeded her in death. Rites will be conducted at the home at 2pm Saturday with Dr. J. G. Moore officiating. Burial will be at Columbia.
Albert H. Vaughn 91, RR7 died at 1:15 Saturday at the Fayette Memeorial Hospital where he had been a patient the past month. Born March 7, 1881 in Pulaski County, Ky near Somerset, son of William and Eliza Clifton Vaughn. Mr. Vaughn came here in 1910. He had farmed many years in the Columbia vicinity. He was a member of 63 years of Union Lodge 31 of Odd Fellows of Connersville, was the past trustee for two terms of Columbia township, has served as a county road supervisor and was past president of the Columbia Cemetery Association. His wife formerly Oma M. Leonard died June 7, 1944. A daughter, two sons, three grandchildren, and two sisters preceeded him in death. Funeral services will be held at 2pm at Myers Funeral Home with Rev. Robert G. Barnard officiating. Burial will be in Columbia cemetery. Friends may call the funeral home after 4pm Tuesday and the Odd Fellows Memorial will be conducted at 7:30 this evening.

DEATH REMOVES A NOBLE WOMEN Mrs. Oliver Leonard was taken from life last night. LONG AN INVALID Deceased as one of Columbia's Beloved women-she was a Member of the Christian Church-Funeral Friday
Death called Mrs. Oliver Leonard at a quarter till eleven o'clock at her home near Columbia last evening. For the last four years she had been an invalid, being a sufferer of complications of dieseases, and for longer than a month all hope of recovery had been abdandoned. A week ago she was stricken with an attack of paralysis, and during the seven days she was in critical condition at all times, being conscious only at intervals. She was the daughter of Daniel and Hannah Darby, Sarah J. Darby her maiden name. The deceased was born near Columbia and all her life had been spent in that community. Nine children were born to Mr and Mrs Leonard five of whom survive: Byron of Columbia, Alfred of Battle Creek, Iowa, John D. of Fowler, Indiana, Charles of Allen County, this state and Ernest a member of an infantry division in the United States Army, now stationed at Cative PI. Deceased was a member of the Christian Church. The final rites will be observed at the Columbia Church Friday afternoon at 2pm. In charge will be the Rev. L. E. Brown and the remains will be interred in the cemetery near the church.
(Oliver Leonard's parents are Isaac Leonard and Christina Messersmith-paternal g-ma to Oma Merl (Leonard) Vaughn. The four deceased children are: Scott b. Mar. 22, 1861 and died Oct. 13, 1872, Jesse b. Sept. 9, 1868 and died Oct. 2, 1875, Murtle b. Jan. 5, 1871 and died Oct. 13, 1875, Gertie b. Jan.24, 1874 and died Dec. 3, 1875. The children are in Columbia cemetery and the girls share a stone and the boys share a stone. Mrs. Sarah Darby Leonard died Jan. 19, 1916)
Mrs. Rose Leonard 65 years old, wife of Byron Leonard died at 6 o'clock this morning at her home following a stroke of paralysis Wednesday. She had been ill of health for a number of years. Deceased was the daughter of Stephen and Elizabeth(Caldwell) Martin and is survived by her husband Byron and two children: Walter of Dayton, Ohio and Mrs. Albert Vaughn of Columbia and two sisters Mrs. Charlotte Thomas of Benton County and Mrs. Allie Simpson of Connersville. Funeral services will be held at 3 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the Columbia Methodist Episcopal Church and burial will be made in the Columbia Cemetery.

Byron Leonard age 66 died at 6:15 o'clock Monday night at the home of his son Walter Leonard in Columbia after a two week's illness. Death was due to pneumonia which developed from an attack of influenza. Mr. Leonard is survived by two children: Walter Leonard and Mrs. Albert Vaughn of Fayette County, three brothers: John Leonard and Ernest Leonard of Fowler, Indiana, and Charles of Monroeville, Indiana. Mrs. Leonard died a year ago. Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the Columbia Methodist Church and burial will be in the Columbia Cemetery. Mr. Leonard was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge of Fowler, Indiana. (Byron died Apr. 30, 1923)
